Getting Started: Terminology

Organizations

Your Organization allows certain users authorization to add, edit, or delete data for your events. For example, the volunteer crew might be given access to add new time data as it is received, or a friend might be given access to upload and organize archival data from earlier events.

Each Organization has a single Owner and can have one or more Stewards. Stewards have authority to enter and modify time records and handle other ministerial tasks. The Owner has authority to make major changes, such as creating or deleting an Event Group.

Courses

The physical course on which your event is run, ridden, swum, flown, or climbed.

Splits

A point on a course at which times are recorded, like an aid station. A Split may include optional elevation, latitude, and longitude data.

Event Groups

A group of events happening on or about the same time. Some Event Groups will have just one Event, like a 100 miler that has no shorter course alternative. Others will have multiple Events, like a 30K, 50K, and 100K that are run on the same day.

Events

A single running of a race, ride, stage, or other…you know, event.

People and Entrants

Person: A person who has competed in at least one Event.

Entrant: A Person in a single Event.

Time Records

Raw Time: A single time at which a bib number is recorded live at a given Split while an Event is ongoing. Raw Times are viewable by Organization personnel and stewards, but not by the general public. Any number of Raw Times may exist for an entrant at a particular point on the Course.

Split Time: A publicly viewable time at which an Entrant is deemed to have been recorded at a given Split. Only one Split Time may exist for an entrant at a particular point on the Course.
